Whalers Shut Out Sens, Advance to Round 2

The Ottawa Senators put up a good fight to dodge elimination in Game 5 and force a sixth game back in Ottawa, but in Game 6 it seemed like Sens didn't have much left in the tank, as the Whalers easily handled them in a 3-0 shutout win to end the series. The Sens only had 24 shots on goal, and Dominik Hasek was more than capable of handling that sort of workload, as he stopped every shot. Meanwhile, the Whalers' offense took care of business early on, as they scored three times in the first period, allowing them to focus on defense the rest of the way and shut down any possibility of a comeback. Now the Whalers will meet either Toronto or Montreal in the second round, depending on what happens in tomorrow's Game 7 between Florida and Montreal.
